Catherine Williams
Conductor/Musical Director
Scottish-born Catherine Williams pursued a career as a solo singer after studying at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music. A move to Wales opened up the opportunity to broadcast with the BBC - singing in Welsh! Catherine then moved to London to further her career. Catherine sang solo throughout the UK with leading Choral Societies and gave numerous recitals and concerts. Highlights include appearances as soloist in both the Royal Festival Hall (with the Band of the Scots Guards), the Royal Albert Hall and the Usher Hall Edinburgh.
In 1988 Catherine moved to Holmfirth where she was appointed Vocal Tutor in Kirklees Schools. Two years later she formed the Kirklees Chorale, a choir of teenage girls. This choir flourished, culminating in four appearances in the Royal Festival Hall at the finals of The National Festival of Music for Youth. Two years ago Catherine was appointed Vocal Coach with the Sing Live UK Ltd.
The forming of Vocal Expressions was a new venture for Catherine. She has enjoyed building the choir to its present standard and looks forward with great anticipation to its future.
