Step into Christmas

An afternoon concert at Holmfirth High School, celebrating Christmas, and highlighting the talents of pupils of the school.

As well as some traditional carols, Vocal Expressions will be performing some well known Christmas pieces, but not quite as you know them, there will be the chance to join in with some carols, if you wish, and VE will be providing their usual delicious refreshments.

Concert, Cake & a Cuppa

Following last year’s enjoyable and successful summer concert with tea and cakes, we’ve decided to hold another similar event. Nicola Mills, our new Musical Director will be making her debut with the choir.

Weekend Residential Workshop, Scarborough

Vocal Expressions’ annual residential workshop will be held at the Red Lea hotel, Scarborough on the weekend of 10th-12th February 2023.

This is a chance for choir members to get together to intensively learn new music and socialise. Although we work very hard, we also have the opportunity to enjoy the bracing sea air or a little retail therapy, and on Saturday evening we have dinner, followed by fun and games.

Our special guest Simeon Wood is an engaging, talented flautists and player of a variety of wind instruments such as panpipes, Celtic whistles and the Ba-Hu, and even occasionally the bicycle pump! 25th Anniversary Concert

It’s hard to believe, especially for our founder members who still sing with the choir, but Vocal Expressions is 25 years old in 2022. The choir is celebrating with a concert in Holmfirth Civic Hall at 7pm on Saturday 14th may. Our special guest performers will be Robert and Jenny Webb. We will also be welcoming welcome our founding musical director, Catherine Williams, and former accompanists.

Christmas concert

BACK FOR CHRISTMAS

Free concert with guests Hade Edge Band at Holmbridge Parish Hall.

The venue will be Covid Secure and doors at either end of the hall will be open throughout – so wrap up warmly!

The Choir will sing without face coverings when performing but it is hoped that as many of the audience as possible will wear face coverings.

The concert will last for about an hour and there will be no refreshments.

March 1st is St David’s day, so it’s very appropriate that this concert features a harpist as our special guest. As part of the Village Hall’s Open Week 2020, St David’s Hall, Holmbridge is opening its doors. Come along and meet the hall’s regular users. This includes us: Vocal Expressions. We meet here every Thursday evening at 7:30 to 9:30pm to rehearse.
